BBC2 Six Puppies And Us:

At the age of 25 Colette fell down the stairs and changed her life changed forever. She suffered a head injury and sustained left-sided paralysis.Colette's mobility was affected and she started to have dystonic seizures. As a result of these seizures, she lost all ability to walk, swallow and the use of her left hand. She was advised by professionals that she would end up in a nursing home needing 24 hour care, and that she would never walk again.

Collect clearly was not ready for this to happen to her. So she taught herself to walk again.

Amazingly in 2014 Colette bought a tiny 8 week old Labradoodle named Lola, and decided to train her to be an assistance dog. By the time Lola was 6 months old, Colette realised that she needed help with Lola's training, so she called Sue.   With Sue's expert help, Colette was able to deal with Lola's 'teenage years' and train her to help Colette get out and about and regain her independence. Sue worked with Colette from June 2014 to February 2015. Most of her training sessions, were filmed by the BBC for their hit TV programme; Six puppies and us.

You can watch Sue, Colette and the wonderful Lola in this episode here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02gdb79

Lola is now at her next stage in training to become a fully qualified assistance dog. This is being self funded by Colette, and you can read more about Colette and Lola in her funding page here: http://www.gofundme.com/lolaequalslife

"Sue helped us straight from the beginning. We asked her for her advice on getting a puppy, as we have never owned a dog previously and have two small children. She guided us on a practical level and with her extensive knowledge of dogs was able to help us short list a puppy. We now have a wonderful Miniature Australian Labradoodle. She was wonderful teaching our two little ones to be in command of Wellington, which has been lovely to see. She warned us when Wellington would start teething, what his behaviour would be like through his first 6 months. Due to this he has turned out to be a fantastic, calm little puppy.. Read more
